updates on goals

since i promised i'd update on my goals... here's the update on how i'm doing so far...

--------

attend the temple at least once a month
i just got my temple recommend renewed so i am equipped to do so. i just need to find a day now.
make it to every devotional
tomorrow will be the first, so i'll be good on that.

read at least five verses of the bom EVERY DAY
i have kinda been able to do that... so far... still need help tho.
feel for the spirit
i learned today in bom, that you can feel the spirit by having more faith. i decided that that's how i'll start. by trying to gain more faith.
call home regularly
i did today.. it was good to call just to talk. i enjoyed it... thanks dad! =)
keep the word of wisdom
when i eat, i eat less and try to make it more healthy. i figure my weekends (especially with luau and this past weekend with SPORTS) are a TON... but hopefully i'll be able to more during the week. i'm usually asleep by 1am. better than last semester.
study the AIMs of byu
haven't quite started on that... but i'll get to it.
STUDY. period.
i've had to push myself harder to not let things sit until later, but i've been doing pretty good about it so far. i've already started on a big research paper for my sfl class, i've been doing readings for ahtg and bom, i've completed all of my science quizzes so far, and i'm really enjoying the homework for asl. =)
participate in luau (hawaii and new zealand sections)
as already mentioned, i went to the first practices. it's fun. maybe i'll be able to get into fiesta too... we'll see about that tho.

make other/more friends

dad! i've been soo good with this! i made new friends in my classes (felila, kara, kirsten, david, kyle), i've made new friends in my ward (a girl from alaska named nicole, one from cali named hannah), i've made new friends in my fhe group (steven), and more from luau (kaui, ashley).
be helpful and patient
nell, i didn't mean with JUST family, but that was part of it...i really meant patient in general with everyone (and especially helpful with family).
send mauri off on a mission
for now we're just staying out of trouble.

magnify my calling
we haven't got our new assignments for VT but i'll have to at least look at the message so i know what i'm teaching. i'm trying to schedule a committee meeting with my committee to see how they're doing and how i can better help them.
be an example
hmm... i'm not quite sure if i've been doing this.. i'd like to think so?
figure out living situation for fall 2010 (and winter too)
well, i applied for the RA position. if i don't get it, i guess i'll just have to live off-campus?
be aware of/careful with my monies
mauri and i went to the rb, where the facilities are FREE because of this reason. we don't go to eat at l&l as much anymore, and the only reason why we went to the nickelcade is because his brother sponsored us. basically... i'm spending less on recreational things.
BALANCE
i am DEFINITELY NOT forgetting to have fun. even if i have less monies. =)

catch up

since i haven't been able to post for a while, i'll update on things that happened since the last post. the first week of school felt like the longest week of my life!! hopefully it'll be better this week (it seems like it has been so far).

on friday mauri and i were supposed to go swimming at the swimming pool... (and the one night we try) there was a swim meet. BUMMER! so we rented raquets and he taught me how to play raquetball instead. it was HARD!!! sooo much harder than tennis (in tennis you don't have to account for the walls, and the balls don't come back at you that fast... usually)!! it was super fun tho. afterward, i slept at cam's house. me and josue stayed up until 2 or 3 in the morning playing wii (learning how to play/attempting to break records).

i had to wake up the next day to go to luau practice (hawaii section) at 8am. it was great. after a REALLY long time of doing drills of the basics (kaholo, hela, uwehe, umi, etc.) we finally broke into groups and learned our dances. between couple, kahiko, and auana, i chose to dance auana. finally the hawaii section was done and new zealand practice started. we once again did foreverly long drills and then we learned a song. afterward, we learned the motions to the song, and rehearsed it again and again. it was a long practice, and my legs were sore, but it was fun.

after luau practice i met up with cam, josue, meags, nell, mauri, and mauri's roommate, kyle, to eat lunch at the cannon. it was great. i hung out, did some banking, watched a video, and then mauri and i went to the RB with his brother marcos and marcos' friend to play tennis (cam and josue were invited but they didn't wanna go on the court without tennis shoes... so mauri invited his brother instead). we played for 1 and 1/2 hours and then we bocha and went to the nickelcade. i ate for the first time at sonics before coming home.

sunday morning, i went to church. after church ended at 3, i had community standards (my floor meeting) at 3:30 (where i found out that my RA is ENGAGED!!), and then a bishop's interview at 4. i ate at the cannon afterward and then went to the CES fireside with elder neil a. anderson. i went to visiting hours at mauri's dorm where he taught me a new game, and then to ward wrap-up where i met a bunch of new people. i slept early, with enough rest for today.

today has been a long day, but it's been good. so... i think those are the main events that happened this week... it's been busy, but fun. =)
