faithful friends

the home teachers came over tonight. they brought the lesson by president eyring, faithful friends. they taught how heavenly father is not just our father, but he is our friend. they said that it's a pretty amazing thing that we can be considered a friend to our God, and that we should try to be the kind of friend that others will think is pretty amazing.
they also taught that by being a friend, by doing something kind, something small... we can serve our friends. we can "be a friend for Him" (meaning the savior) by helping others. on sunday, the talks were about service. in FHE, our lesson was on service. and now our home teaching lesson... wow. think i should take a hint. =)

bus adventures

today i caught the bus to lihue to run some errands. the bus driver was a very nice man, and i was glad it was him and not some of the grouchy, fast-driving (bumpy ride) drivers. i stopped off at the mall and did some shopping, and then i caught the lihue shuttle (a first). guess what? it was the SAME driver. it was only me on the bus, and he was very nice when i asked him to drop me off at walmart. he told me it'd probably be faster to take the lunch shuttle, but i told him i wasn't in any hurry, and he said he'd enjoy my company. it made my day. =)
this is the very nice bus driver, whose name i do not know, who made my day. thank you mr. bus driver. =) (i figured it'd be weird to ask him to smile for me to take a picture.... so i didn't =P)

on the way home from lihue, there was a haole guy who was riding the bus for the first time, and kept asking questions and stuff. it was only after we were in waimea, after he stood up to ask a question and sat back down, that i saw that he was buckled. not only was he buckled, but he buckled himself with the buckle meant for HANDICAPPED people. it was HEEELARIOUS! and i thought it was cute that he was so oblivious to the fact that no one else was wearing seat belts, let alone the handicapped one. so of course, i took a picture... =P
he too... made my day... again. =D

warren's bday

i realized that this summer we've been going to more non-graduation parties than graduation parties... a first, i think. anyway, tonight was warren's (the bouche's son) party. we went to the base, with the youngs and the bouche's family friends... and we had lots of good food!
(of course i took a picture of the food! we had ribs, chicken, mac salad, rice, and green salad)
we sang happy birthday (he really didn't want it to be a "big deal" so we just sang to him, without candles in his cake).
we gave him a present. it was a shirt from hawaii. he liked it. it was good to go out... even for a little while.
lucky for us, we also got to see the sunset from the base. ahhh... i will miss this.
