good ol' days

kamehameha day has been a wonderful day after all! =P for me, it really was a holiday. i got to wake up late, make brunch, do my p90x, bocha, and go off to the movies with ty and jacob. we were planning to go see the prince of persia (they heard it was a good movie and they wanted to see if it was like the game), but they screwed up the times, and we got there a half hour too late. so we decided to see the next movie... the a-team. =)
it was a good movie. i thought it was pretty funny, and the action kept it pretty interesting. i think brother would enjoy this movie. maybe cam and josue... probably josue though. LOL... idk, just go see it, and let me know what you think. =P

after the movie, we stopped by borders to get ty a book. it just reminded me of high school when it was a thing to go to borders and hang out. LOL!
after borders, we went to burger king for some dinner. i tried taking pictures of ty and jacob to post, but they both resisted, so again, i don't have a picture with them. sad... anyways... it's been a long day, but just like the good ol' days. =P

sleepovers... =)

last night ally and bubs and i had a sleepover in ally's room. =D we stayed up late talking about their temple trip and youth conference, as well as other stuff about high school and things like that. it was fun. we didn't go to sleep until 230 but we did get to sleep in. =) it's a good day for a holiday!

counting my blessings

i had my orientation for my summer job today... ALL DAY! i went there excited, and came out kinda bummed. here's why: (1) i found out that i won't be getting paid on wednesdays because they go on field trips, so i don't work. this means less money. (2) then i found out that i'll only be working 6 hours a day instead of 8 hours a day. less money. (3) then i found out that there's 2 furlough fridays. once again... less money.

so i decided that i will count my blessings and be happy instead. here are the blessings ONLY associated with this job, so i know i've got a TON more =D:

ITS A JOB!!!
job = $$$ (even if it is less than i expected)
i get to work close to home (kekaha)
it's good for my resume
i get to be a teacher, where i can make my own lesson plans
my lesson plans don't need to be completely like school
i get to spend time with friends
i basically get along with my other co-workers
i get paid to hang out with kids
the field trips that i won't get paid for are to the beach and pool = TAN! ;P
it's only for 6 weeks, and i don't work on weekends meaning more time for family after work is pau
there's only 60 kids, instead of 150 (like lihue nc) signed up for kekaha
i asked/hoped for this job, and i got it
i get to help little kids, almost like a brats kinda thing! =D (nell would appreciate that... )

that's all i can think of now, but i'm sure there will be more as i get to know the kids a little better. i just wanted to share with you all how grateful i am for all of these blessings that i DO have because of this job.

1 fish, 2 fish, red fish, blue fish

can you guess what i got to do today?? i learned how to fish. =D funny, huh? i've lived in hawaii practically my ENTIRE life and only now, at 18, i am learning the basics of fishing. =P anywho... ty took me to the waimea river mouth to learn how to set up, cut bait, hook bait, cast line, make hauna, and even kinda how to make new hooks. even though it was SUPER windy, and the sand kept stinging me, i had lots of fun. here's some pics of the "adventures" (inspired by cam and josue's "adventures" =P).

ty took out the bait (squid) and then he cut it and showed me how to put it on the hooks.
i tried just putting the bait on. as you can tell, i struggled... and then i finally got it! =P
then he showed me how to cast, and i attempted... like SEVENTEEN times =P
he brought sardines which he made into "hauna" which attracts the fish. he mixed it with sand to spread it out a little bit
he kinda taught me how to make the hooks and stuff. actually he mostly SHOWED me. this is his "smile" when i told him to... lol
the squid. don't be decieved... we are not "besties"... i will cut it up to make my bait =P ...see?
first you cut off the head, then take out the guts, then cut it into long, thin-ish, triangular pieces
we actually caught a small papio... see? but it was illegally small so we had to release it. =(

yay! we had fun. and guess what?? i got RED! =P whoo hoo!! =P
