it was fast and testimony meeting, and i felt that i needed to go up. i shared about learning how the Lord blesses us as he helps us to grow (maybe not in ways that we want or hope, but always in the best way for us). i shared my experience about my major, and how the Lord knows us, is aware of us, and will help us through any trials that we might have, as we listen and feel for the spirit. throughout the rest of the day, especially in relief society (as we learned about how we can grow closer to the Savior), i could feel the spirit, and i RECOGNIZED the feeling AS the spirit (application to the prospective missionary fireside!! :D). it was so exciting... because it was like i'm learning and APPLYING how to better "tune in" to the spirit. i know it's only because i've been praying more earnestly for it, trying more consistently to read my scriptures, and making a better effort to go to the temple often. :)
yay for exciting, growing experiences!! :)
When I read this post I totally thought of Preach My Gospel, Chapter 4--one of my favorites btw.
ReplyDeleteM. Russell Ballard says: "True conversion comes through the power of the Spirit. When the Spirit touches the heart, hearts are changed. When individuals... feel the Spirit working with them, or when they see the evidence of the Lord's love and mercy in their lives, they are edified and strengthened spiritually and their faith in Him increases. These experiences with the Spirit follow naturally when a person is willing to experiment upon the word. This is how we come to FEEL the gospel is true." (PMG p. 93)
That's you!! :)
SO COOL!!! for missionary week, i had to teach a lesson for our first "zone conference" and i chose to encourage them to look for and find spiritual experiences as they try to act like missionaries act, think like missionaries think, and feel like missionaries feel. so i really like that chapter too! :)
ReplyDeleteah! this makes me SOOOO excited! thanks cam! :)
