provo youth mentoring

it's official. i'm a provo youth mentor. today was my first day, and it... wasn't quite what i expected. aparently i'm just supposed to be a role model and helper for a student. i was assigned to a little girl named jessika. she goes to rock canyon elementary and she's in 3rd grade. the thing is, when i went this morning, i was basically a math tutor. i basically helped her with her math homework (correcting it), she did her multiplication tables, and then counted money. i thought i'd be taking her out of class, but i guess i'm just like a tutor, and i will be for the rest of the semester. =) i'm excited to be a mentor and glad that i signed up. i'll be with her during her math hour so if you have any fun ideas that we can do that has to do with math, that would be WONDERFUL!

  1. That is wonderful that you can find the time to do service and give back to the community that hosts the University. That is productive and you will be more well-rounded. Who knows, this community service might come in handy when you graduate and look for a job. It will set you apart from other candidates who only had time for studies. Great job, Rach!
